Fulham’s official Twitter account sparked controversy with a tweet mocking Chelsea player Joao Felix after his red card in the match between the two teams on Thursday.
The tweet, which read “#AdiosJoao” and has since been deleted, was seen as a dig at the forward who had just joined Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid and had only been on the field for 58 minutes before his dismissal.
The tweet was criticized as unprofessional and in poor taste. Chelsea ultimately lost the match 2-1, with Fulham’s Carlos Vinicius scoring the winning goal. Chelsea is currently 10th in the Premier League table, 10 points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
