Potter claims Badiashile, Chilwell, Sterling, and Aubameyang will be on Chelsea’s team to play Southampton.

Graham Potter has confirmed that Chelsea will play Southampton on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.

This season in the league, things haven’t been going well for Chelsea, and Potter hasn’t had a good run of wins since he took over in September.

Chelsea has had a lot of ups and downs in their games. They have played well at times, but it hasn’t been enough for them to get all three points.

They’ve only won two of their last 13 Premier League games, which has dropped them to 10th place, 10 points behind the top teams.

Potter and his team lost 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday. This was their first loss in four games.

Wesley Fofana, Denis Zakaria, and Mateo Kovacic all went to Dortmund for the loss, but none of them played at the Signal Iduna Park. Raheem Sterling also didn’t play because he was hurt.

Sterling is likely to be back in the running since Ben Chilwell started against Germany on Wednesday and played for about 70 minutes.

Potter said about Chilwell and Sterling on Friday, before the game against Southampton, that it was a good sign.

“Later, we’re going to train. If they pass that test, there’s a good chance they’ll be in the squad.”

Edouard Mendy, N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic, and Armando Broja are still out. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who wasn’t in Chelsea’s 25-man Champions League squad, will hope to play, and Benoit Badiashile, who was also ineligible on Wednesday night, is likely to be back on the team.

When asked about Aubameyang’s chances of making Chelsea’s team between now and the end of the season, Potter said, “We also have David Fofana, a young player with promise.”

“There are other ways forward. Pierre is in our squad, remains an important player. There are no sure things. His behavior has been very, very good.”

Jones was fired as Southampton’s manager because of the team’s poor play, and Potter thinks that form doesn’t matter for Saturday’s game.

He told the reporters, “What’s happened in the past doesn’t matter, and that’s the challenge. We need to focus on ourselves and be ready for a big challenge, which is coming our way.”
