Manchester City Leading the Race to Sign ‘Exceptional’ Arsenal Youngster.

The football world is abuzz with speculation that Manchester City is poised to sign Arsenal prodigy Ethan Nwaneri.

The youngster made Premier League history last September when he came off the bench at the age of 15, becoming the league’s youngest ever player.

With a natural talent that has seen him skip age groups and play for both the U-18s and U-21s this season, the Englishman has scored six goals and provided four assists.

He has also featured 12 times for England’s Under-17 side, notching a further seven goals.

Football Insider reports that City is in “pole position” to sign the 16-year-old, who must wait until he is 17 to sign a professional deal.

Pep Guardiola has reportedly “spotted an opportunity to pounce” before other clubs can swoop in.

Arsenal is determined to keep Nwaneri, with the club said to be “doing all they can” to prevent him from leaving north London.

Former Arsenal midfielder and current U-18 coach Jack Wilshere praised the youngster’s exceptional abilities, saying that he has been exceptional in the Youth Cup and has managed to balance his schoolwork with his football career.

Whatever happens, Wilshere wished Nwaneri all the best and praised him for the sacrifices he has made to get to where he is today.
