Chelsea boss Graham Potter has defended new signing Joao Felix following his red card on his debut in the club’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham.
The Portugal international was dismissed for dangerous play after impressing in the opening hour of the match. Willian had given Fulham the lead before Kalidou Koulibaly equalized for Chelsea.
However, Carlos Vinicius’ headed goal sealed the win for the hosts. Potter believes that Felix, who will now miss three games due to the red card, showed his quality before his dismissal and stated that the challenge was not malicious.
The Chelsea manager will be looking to turn things around in their next match, a home clash against Crystal Palace, as the pressure mounts on him at Stamford Bridge.
