GRANIT XHAKA picked up his 56th Premier League yellow card at Aston Villa – but his latest came AFTER being substituted off.

Granit Xhaka got his 56th yellow card in the Premier League at Aston Villa, but this one came after he was taken off.

The 30-year-old midfielder for Arsenal has been in England for a long time and is used to referees telling him off.

But on Saturday at Villa Park, he went the whole 79 minutes without being written down in referee Simon Hooper’s book.

But that didn’t stop Xhaka from being arrested.

In the 93rd minute, Jorginho took a shot. His shot hit the bar, bounced off Emi Martinez’s head, and went into the back of the net to give the Gunners a much-needed win.

Everyone at Arsenal, including Jorginho and his teammates, celebrated the lucky goal in a big way.

But Xhaka didn’t want to miss out on the fun, so he ran across the Villa Park field to the corner in front of the happy away fans and joined the huddle with his teammates.

A Twitter video, though, shows that as the black players slowly walked back to their own half of the field for the restart, Xhaka went straight across the field to the away dugout.

And as he walked back sheepishly, Hooper showed him a yellow card.

Fans on social media loved the scenes and praised Xhaka for his hard work in the dramatic 4-2 win that put their favorite team, Arsenal, back on top of the table.

One said: “Xhaka had to run from the bench to come celebrate this goal… What a great group of people this is.”

Another person wrote, “What a day! It’s great that Xhaka was able to celebrate on the other side of the field after he was taken off.”

A third said, “The most beautiful thing about all the videos of the celebrations for the third goal is that Xhaka had to run all the way from the bench to come celebrate.”

And one more user said, “Xhaka is a leader, so he should celebrate with the rest of his team.”
