Manchester United secured a crucial victory against Nottingham Forest on Saturday to rise to third in the Premier League table.

The Red Devils were able to extend their winning run to three matches, despite being plagued by injuries. Winger Antony opened the scoring for United in the 32nd minute, netting his first goal in 15 league games.

His strike came after Forest goalkeeper Keylor Navas had parried Anthony Martial’s shot. United defender Diogo Dalot then doubled the lead with a clinical finish in the 76th minute.

United was dominant throughout the match, with Bruno Fernandes putting in a highly influential performance. The Portuguese midfielder hit the crossbar and was a constant thorn in Forest’s side.

The win takes United three points above Newcastle and six ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham. The loss leaves Forest in the relegation zone, below Everton on goal difference.

Despite the victory, United suffered another setback when Marcel Sabitzer sustained a groin injury during the warm-up. Sabitzer, who scored twice in eight minutes in United’s 2-2 draw against Sevilla in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, was forced to withdraw from the match.

United was already missing top scorer Marcus Rashford and first-team regulars including Scott McTominay, Luke Shaw, and Lisandro Martinez due to injuries.

Manager Erik ten Hag will be pleased with the result, as United’s injury crisis continues. The Red Devils will be hoping to continue their winning streak when they face Brighton & Hove Albion in their next match.
