2023 U.S. INQUA Congress Travel Fellowship Program

To apply for the 2023 U.S. INQUA Congress Travel Fellowship Program, interested candidates must submit an application. The 2023 U.S. INQUA Congress Travel Fellowship Program has been announced by the U.S. National Committee for Quaternary Research (USNC/INQUA), a committee of the National Academy of Sciences that represents all U.S. quaternary scientists to the International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA).

Graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and early career faculty from U.S. institutions are the target audience for this program, which will be held in Rome, Italy, from July 14–20, 2022, during the 21st INQUA Congress. The initiative is awaiting funding.

First authors of papers in any area of Quaternary research and associated subjects that will be presented at the Congress (oral or poster) as well as U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled in or employed at U.S. institutions are required of applicants.

The applicant must be a graduate student or an early-career scientist who has not yet earned their Ph.D. While the USNC/INQUA aims to assist all early-career U.S. quaternary scientists, we especially invite submissions from those from historically underrepresented groups in STEM fields.

Each scholarship awarded under this program will pay up to $2,000 toward the participant’s expenses for attending the INQUA Congress. The USNC/INQUA will also establish a mentorship program for the chosen applicants.

The title, authors, and abstract of the work to be delivered at the INQUA Congress are among the information that candidates must provide as part of an online application in order to be considered for a travel fellowship. A two-page resume and (1) a summary of your financial strategy for attending the conference, including any additional sources of funds you may have, are also requested.

Please submit your application materials online at https://www.nationalacademies.org/our-work/us-national-committee-for-the-international-union-for-quaternary-research-usnc-inqua.

DEADLINES:

The extended INQUA Congress abstract submission deadline is November 28, 2022. See https://inquaroma2023.org/abstract-submission/. Abstracts must be submitted to the Congress by this date to apply for the U.S. INQUA Travel Fellowship program.
