Bandai Namco announced that Tekken 8 is in development and unveiled the first trailer during yesterday’s State of Play presentation.
According to Katsuhiro Harada, Chief Producer of the Tekken Project, the trailer “takes directly from a specific part of the Tekken 8 story mode that is currently in the works and will be played on PlayStation 5”. All models, backgrounds and effects are the same as used in the game and not pre-rendered footage.
The trailer mainly focuses on the level of detail of the in-game features that “stand out from the current Tekken 7”.
Tekken 8, as a sequel to the story of Tekken 7, will focus on the father-son showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama.
Since the game is still in development, Bandai Namco has yet to announce a release date for the upcoming entry.
“The entire development team is working hard to make this title worth the wait, so thank you for your support.”
