A saddening piece of news is coming to the front where it is reported that Nicole Hazen, wife of Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen, has passed away. She reportedly took her last breath on Thursday, August 4, 2022. According to reports, Nicole Hazen had a rare form of brain cancer. Despite giving the treatment, she could not defeat the dreaded disease and succumbed to it. Mike Hazen stated that Nicole would do anything for the kids and that is how she lived her whole life. Expressing his sadness about Nicole’s demise, Ryan Watson, the principal at St. Francis Xavier, said that she was just an absolutely treasured faculty member. Watson further added that the amount of sheer toughness and grit was the example she set for her students and added that it was unparalleled.
Who Was Nicole Hazen?
Nicole Marie Ferrara, who was born and raised in Cleveland, first met Mike Hazen when he was employed by the Indians as an assistant farm director. She stopped teaching when the couple was married after their first kid was born, and the family immediately relocated to Boston when Mike got a job with the Red Sox. After the family moved to Arizona in the fall of 2016, she eventually returned to teaching and accepted a post at St. Francis Xavier, where the Hazen boys attended school. During their time in Boston, they had three additional children. Mike claimed that Nicole’s life has always revolved around baseball.
Mike said that she ate, slept, and drank baseball with them the entire time and that those were really jobs but were lifestyles. Adding further, Mike said that the mere mention of Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly’s dominant pitching performances would bring a huge smile to her face.
