Chairman,House Committee on Foreign Affairs and Member representing Gombi/ Hong Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives ,Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has been commended for showcasing uncommon zeal and sacrifice in his service to our fatherland. The commendation, which came from Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila during the House’s plenary,Thursday, followed the presentation of a Special Report on the self- sponsored visit to the United States to attend the last United Nations General Assembly and to carry out oversight functions on Nigerian Missions in the US and parts of Europe by the Adamawa-born lawmaker and his delegation, which included the Clerk to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. The House had,in a rare demonstration of appreciation, literally applauded Hon. Buba’s act of selflessness for carrying out such official activities with his personal resources ,while promising to support the Committee Chair to achieve a better lease of life for the Ambassadors and the Missions. Acknowledging the great commitment made by Hon. Buba in his service to the country, Speaker Gbajabiamila said Buba’s quest for results could not be dogged by the unfavourable circumstances occasioned by paucity of funds that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Foreign Missions have continued to witness over the past years. The Report, which shall be considered on a later date, in the House, covers the visit to ten countries in Europe and the US by the Gombi/ Hong Representative and other members of his delegation on the visit . The delegation had sought to ascertain the conditions of the Nigerian Missions abroad and what should be done to reposition them for greater performance and results.
